When Can I Order? Are There Ordering Deadlines? Why Does Delivery Take So Long? Where and When Do I Pick Up My Laptop? How Do I Pay For the Laptop? Is There A Payment Plan Through UMF? Is My Laptop On My Student Bill? Can I Pay For It With Financial Aid? When Can I Order? Ordering will begin in May 2008 and continue through the Academic Year. Call 207-778-7490 to place your order. [ Return to top ] Are There Ordering Deadlines? Eager Beaver Ordering Order by June 16th and get your laptop as early as July 14th! Call for details. Priority Ordering Order by July 18th to have your laptop ready Move-in Day September 2008. Regular Ordering Order after July 18th and still get your laptop. (Not guaranteed to have laptop by the start of classes.) [ Return to top ] Why Does Delivery Take So Long? It takes time for us to purchase and custom configure your laptop (and hundreds like it). [ Return to top ] Where and When Do I Pick Up My Laptop? Please visit the distribution page for more details. [ Return to top ] How Do I Pay For the Laptop? Payment in full is expected upon order. We accept MasterCard, Visa, Personal Check, Money Order and Cashiers Check. Please call for details. Make checks payable to "University of Maine". All checks should be mailed to UMF Computer Center, 117 South Street, Room 105B, Farmington, ME 04938 [ Return to top ] Is There A Payment Plan Through UMF? No, but the University Credit Union offers computer purchase loans at favorable rates (NOTE: UCU loans for EXCEL laptops are not the same as Federal Stafford Loans). Please call for details. [ Return to top ] Is My Laptop On My Student Bill? No. The laptop purchase is separate from tuition. [ Return to top ] Can I Pay For It With Financial Aid? Purchasing a laptop will seldom result in an increase in aid. In exceptional situations, the Financial Aid Office may be able to utilize computer expenses to help optimize the benefits of outside scholarship dollars and/or loan subsidies. Retain your receipts.
